The biggest threats when fighting a Mind Flayer (not including its allies in the fight) are its Mind Blast and Dominate Monster abilities. Some would be devoured, others would be used as slaves, and others would be specifically used to propagate the Illithid race. This is considered a great honor in Mind Flayer society as all of the creatures knowledge is absorbed by the Elder Brain. The Ancient Dragon Turtle might not be as smart as the other monsters inFizban's Treasury of Dragons,but it's a hellish leviathan from the depths of the sea, and it can easily squash a city beneath its bulk.
